Please bring your own packed lunch.
All equipment provided but please dress appropriately – workwear, gloves, steel toe capped boots or wellies, waterproofs, sun hat etc.

Join us for a beginner’s scything workshop and learn how to mow meadow/grassland using an Austrian (continental) scythe. Course will cover how to set up and sharpen of scythes and basic mowing skills. We’ll be working on the banks of the Cambo Burn within the walled garden. We’ve been managing this area as a wildflower meadow for the last three years in order to increase biodiversity within the garden and last year we hand scythed it for the first time with Rob Brodie’s help. Rob is a professional horticulturalist with a particular interest in organic gardening, permaculture and scything. Based in Fife he helps to organise the annual Scottish Scything Festival.
