On the evening of Saturday 26th, moth expert Stephen Buckland will be setting up his trapping equipment among the wild corners of Cambo Gardens. Stephen’s work aims to uncover the hidden world of nocturnal pollinators, moths. These delicate creatures, often overlooked, play a vital role in local ecosystems: pollinating plants, feeding birds and bats, and acting as indicators of environmental health.
What he’s doing isn’t just scientific, it’s deeply connected to the land and is a wonderful way to wrap up our Composted Festival at Cambo Gardens.
We know that composting creates rich, living soil that supports the stunning gardens of Cambo Estate and when we care for the soil, we lay the groundwork for biodiversity to thrive, from earthworms and beetles to butterflies and MOTHS.
Join us on the Sunday 27th July as we shine a light on the unsung heroes of nature, moths! These silent night-shift pollinators play a vital role in keeping our planet vibrant and full of life. From feeding hungry birds and bats, to helping nocturnal flowers bloom, moths are ecological superstars with over 1500 different species fluttering across Scotland.
