We support training through formal Modern Apprenticeships though the Our Bright Future Fife programme and informal work experience opportunities for young people, adults and adults with additional support needs.
About Our Bright Future
The Modern Apprenticeships are part of ‘Our Bright Future’ an ambitious and innovative partnership led by The Wildlife Trusts which brings together the youth and environmental sectors. This £33 million programme funded by the National Lottery Community Fund is formed of 31 projects across the UK which are running for up to five years. Each project is helping young people aged 11-24 gain vital skills and experience and improve their wellbeing. At the same time, they act as catalysts for delivering change for their local environment and community; whilst contributing to a greener economy.
The programme is running until 2020 and offers different levels of activity from the Centre for Stewardship on Falkland Estate as well as at a number of FRSP partners sites throughout Fife; The Ecology Centre in Kinghorn, Cambo Estate near Kingsbarns and FEAT at Silverburn Park in Leven, with training support provided by Fife Works and Rural Skills Scotland.
Level 1 is targeted at 15 – 18 year olds who tend to be referred to the programme via school or another agency. The young people benefit from a series of sessions working on a project in the outdoors in small safe groups. Tasks range from gardening and conservation to basic woodworking.
Level 2 is all about offering Modern Apprenticeships to young people aged between 16 and 24 years living in Fife. We generally recruit by inviting people to come and join us on a Rural Skills Academy where they can gain work experience a First Aid qualification and most importantly find out more about the apprenticeship. From the Academy we select onto our programme. More information about the programme can be found on the Fife Rural Skills website http://fiferuralskills.com/our-bright-future/
The next closing date for applications to the Modern Apprenticeship programme is 6 September 2019. Visit www.opportunitiesfife.org to apply.
