Friday 26 July & Sunday 4 August 2024

Join us as part of the Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count 2024 (https://bigbutterflycount.butterfly-conservation.org/). On Sunday 4 August (only) we’ll also spend the first half hour looking at which moths have been caught in a moth trap which will have been set the night before. At the event on Friday 26 July we’ll just be looking at butterflies.

Elspeth Christie and Gillian Fyfe are the County Butterfly Recorders for Fife and Clackmannanshire. This is a volunteer role for Butterfly Conservation. Gillian and Elspeth have many years of studying and recording butterflies including regularly recording on butterfly transects at Tentsmuir. On this walk you will learn how to identify garden butterflies and discuss how to improve your garden for butterflies and moths at every stage of their life cycles. We will also be encouraging you to take part in Butterfly Conservation’s recording schemes providing information on how to take part.

Duncan Davidson will help with the moth reveal on Sunday 4 August – see moth trapping information for 23 June.
