Double Snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis ‘Flore Pleno’)
The charming double form, with its frilly white petticoats – multiple layers of blousy and rather jauntily arranged inner segments, creating a fuller flower. Far more prevalent in our woods at Cambo and every bit as vigorous as the singles, despite not setting viable seed – they spread steadily by bulb division instead. Best planted in the green straight away when they arrive – for a naturalistic look, plant in small groups of 3s and 5s, spacing each group about 30cm apart. Give them a choice spot where you can appreciate the intricate blooms up close – near a path or the front of a border. Tolerates most soils but appreciates a bit of leaf mould worked into heavy clay. Lift and divide established clumps after three to five years to expand the display. A proper treasure for the late winter garden.
Available in bundles of 25 bulbs. Dispatched February-April.
